Twitter scam cons tweeters

A bogus Twitter app which claims to calculate how many hours users have spent on the micro blogging service has been duping hundreds of users into clicking a spam link.

The hook for the scam involves a fake message reading “I have spent 11.6 hours on Twitter. How much have you? Find out here.”

Except that the “here” in this instance is merely a link to a spam generating app called “Time on Tweeter” which will proceed to propagate the same message to all of that users contacts - without permission.

Anyone falling for the con is advised to immediately revoke access to the illicit program.
