Mediacom Edinburgh has said that following the loss of the Scottish Government media framework account to Feather Brooksbank, no decision over staff working on the account has yet been made.

Following a tender process, the media buying framework is set to return to Feather Brooksbank, seven years after it lost the account to Mediacom Edinburgh, resulting in TUPE being implemented for staff working on the account, which could see them transferredd alongside.

Murray Calder, director of Mediacom Edinburgh said that a meeting was yet to be had with the procurement team for the Scottish Government over the issue of staff, and that the company was at a ‘standstill’ as a result of a 12 day consultation period, ending 14 March and could not comment beforehand.

The account is expected to be worth between £60-£80 million over the next four years.

At the beginning of the tender process, Roger Williams, head of marketing and digital communications for the Scottish Government admitted that he would welcome interest from media companies outside of Scotland, with the two Edinburgh agencies being seen as the only companies capable of servicing the account.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Government confirmed the appointment: “Following a comprehensive tender exercise in collaboration with key stakeholders across the Central Government Sector, the framework agreement award for media planning and associated services will be awarded to Feather Brooksbank, part of Aegis Group plc.

“Eight Central Government organisations took part in the procurement process. These included NHS Health Scotland, Visit Scotland, CalMac, Scottish Qualifications Authority, Scottish Development International, Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service and Skills Development Scotland and Scottish Government," they continued.
