ITV Creative has created a product placement ad to inform viewers about the new Ofcom regulations which come into play on Monday.

With animation by Blue Zoo, the ad is to run across the ITV, Channel 4 and BSkyB networks and forms part of a campaign highlighting the change in broadcasting rules.

New rules stipulate that a product placement logo must appear in any one of the four corners for three seconds at the start and end of programmes and after ad breaks, and meet minimum size requirements of "roughly equivalent to the size of a channel logo" according to an Ofcom spokesman

The BBC is exempt from the practice of product placement under Ofcom rules however, with only commercial television networks in the UK permitted to take advantage.

The new ad features images which could be included on the channels such as a pair of sunglasses, a watch and a mobile phone, all of which were designed in a paper craft style and then hand made before being replicated in CG and animated in a stop frame style.
