Online reports suggest that LinkedIn has been blocked in China, after the social network became a platform for organising anti-government protests.

The site had recently seen growth in China and was holding off the challenges of several clones like Ushi and Tianji.

Twitter has already been blocked by the Chinese 'Great Firewall' and it appears that LinkedIn has also been targeted.

Protesters are increasingly using social networks to organise events and engage others, but are having to move quickly as the Chinese government blocks sites.

The Chinese government has also blocked Facebook, and users had turned to LinkedIn to share information about coordinating protests.

China's officials have also cracked down on Chinese social networks such as Renen, by blocking certain search queries and preventing users from posting status updates containing terms deemed sensitive.
