A Leeds-based video producer has made a music video for up and coming band 'The Little Black Hearts' which has been shot entirely on 10 iPhones.
Richard Spawforth used the 8mm Vintage Camera app for the shoot which he said cost just £10. However, as an extra twist he is hoping that this possible 'first' will generate publicity for the band and the video.
The app makers, Nexio, plan to use the video on their site and seed it in social media networks.
However, the whole project was not all Heath Robinson. In a lengthy process the video was cut using a pro-suite. And another director made a 'behind the scenes' video of the project using a Sony HVR Z1.

Doesn't this resemble something that Nokia did a couple of years ago...?

Looks really nice considering how it was shot. What people have to remember is that it was still lit and stylised and made by people who know what they are doing. You cant just pick up an iPhone and create this.

I directed this video, and am really pleased with the outcome. True as someone has pointed out bellow, its not a 100% original idea but it should be noted we were the first to do it with this particular app (8mm vintage camera)
Its also true that the set was lit with professional lighting although i did make sure to borrow the kit from some nice friends in the TV industry as i wanted to make the whole video for the price of the app! Its a bit of a cheat tho because it was edited on a pro FCP suite.
I like that technology has advanced so far that you can make a half decent music video by just using a thing you carry round in your pocket! I think in some ways it levels the playing field a bit for smaller producers and directors
