Omnipresent supermarket chain Tesco has found itself in hot water from feminists after adding a line of “sexist” T-Shirts to its range of wares.

Under the caption ‘Bird Watching’ the offending garment depicted a picture of twitcher style binoculars, except no feathered avians were silhouetted in these lenses which instead depicted a quartet of sexy female dancers.

Anna van Heeswijk, campaigns manager for women’s lobby group, branded the £6 shirts “objectionable”, adding: "It promotes voyeurism, dehumanises females into sex objects and uses sexist language to refer to women as 'birds'. These messages about women are worrying."

A Tesco spokesperson said: "The T-shirt, which was intended as a humorous item of casual wear, was on clearance and is no longer on sale."
