This Thursday, February 24, could be the launch day for updated MacBook Pros, that favourite of the media business, with Intel's latest Sandy Bridge processors. Apple hasn't confirmed (or denied) that new MacBook Pros are about to arrive but the website gizmag.com says "a couple of listings of unexplained MacBook Pro part numbers by retailers online may just have let the cat out of the bag."

An email from an Apple employee alerting them to the arrival of five new MacBook Pro products this week is said to have been received by the Italian site ISpazio.

The new models are said to include two 13-inch models, two 15-inch models and a 17-inch model. They may be thinner than current models - taking design cues from the MacBook Air .

Unlike the current aluminum unibody construction, says MacTrast, the new models will apparently be manufactured in an injection molding-like process and will be stronger, lighter and more scratch resistant. Battery life may also be boosted: 12 hours for the 13-inch models 11 hours for the 15-inch and 17-inchers .The latter two are also expected to get another USB port, bringing the count to three for the 15-inch and four for the 17-inch model.
