We are the Future challenges marketers for PHD anniversary

PHD turns 21 this month. To mark the agency’s birthday, it has created a provocative ad just like its first one in 1990 when it launched as the world’s first planning-led media agency.

‘We Are The Future’ is a reflection on how the next generation will engage with brands. It hears from children in their early teens about what marketers will need to do to engage and influence them in the future.

More than an ad, it is an invitation to the marketing industry to ‘up their game’.

In less than 10 years, the next generation will be a true match for marketers. This film is intended to be a wake-up call for the marketing community. To make them get ready. Things are about to get a whole lot more difficult.     What do you think?

Not convinced the kids scripted this themselves. And anyway, I will make it my mission to have these little bastards glued to ninety second tv commercials by 2015. And door drops with Coupons. Facebook can whistle sweet dixie.

There won't be any jobs for these whippersnappers so surely the old guard gets to decide where, when and how we communicate to them. If at all - the only valuable target audience will be the grey market. They're the ones who made their cash before it all went to pot. These kids wont even get a credit card, let alone a mortgage. Why listen to the doomed?

Oh the iony....kids voicing caution to the ageing marketeers, scripted by ageing marketeers, directed by ageing marketeers and manipulated by ageing marketeers. How in the hell is this any different to any other generation??? Get over yourselves.
