Marketing Leeds is set to expand with the merging of a number of different organisations such as Marketing Leeds and Financial Leeds before April.

According to Insider, the new body will employ 35 people and be given an annual budget of around £2.5m-a-year with the remit of creating a ‘renewed focus’ for the city as well as attracting new investment.

Also set to become part of the new body will be Locate in Leeds, Leeds Visitor Centre, Visit Leeds and business tourism unit Conference Leeds.

James Rogers, assistant chief executive of Leeds City Council claimed that there were ‘too many silos’, which has led to the city looking to present a ‘consolidated’ offer.

Heading up the new Marketing Leeds organisation will be a chief executive, a role which will be nationally advertised, with current chief executives of Marketing Leeds and Financial Leeds – Deborah Green and Howard Kew respectively – set to apply.
