As part of its announcement today as it aimed to make savings of £91 million within the next financial year, Liverpool City Council has said that it will continue to support business development agency Liverpool Vision.

Liverpool Vision, which includes creative body Liverpool Acme, will be supported with an investment of £1.75 million, in a bid to leverage jobs and growth within the city and grow the private sector.

Meanwhile, a reduction of £1.8 million will be made to the cultural sector budget, although the council has said that it will continue to support the sector through additional European regional development funds for the Matthew Street and Hub Festivals, the River Festival, the new museum, slavery remembrance Day and Chinese New year.

It has said that these events ‘remain secure’ for the next year.

Further announcements are expected this evening from the council which, it is believed, will have further impact on the marketing and media sector within the city.
