Google claims Nokia ‘wrong’ to jump in bed with Microsoft
Eric Schmidt, Google’s chief executive, has hit out at Nokia after being spurned by the mobiles giant in a partnership bid.
Schmidt confirmed that he had held “extensive” confidential discussions with the firm about using its Android operating system, before Nokia announced it would plump mfor Windows Phone 7 instead.
Speaking at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Schmidt said this had been the “wrong choice” but that Nokia would be welcomed to the Android platform should they wish to reconsider in future.
Nokia will begin shipping Windows Phone 7 handsets this year but will not shift large volumes of Microsoft powered smartphones until 2012.
