ITV has launched a Coronation Street online spin-off allowing fans of the soap to eavesdrop on Ken and Deirdre Barlow's pillow talk.

Ken & Deirdre's Bedtime Stories, sponsored by furniture store Harvey's, went live online last night. It is the first of a 10 part series of three-minute episodes written by Corrie scriptwriter Jonathan Harvey.

William Roach, who has played Ken Barlow since the soap began in 1960, said the web episodes take the show "into new and exciting territory".

It is not the only new territory ITV bosses are keen to explore, with more Coronation Street tie-in products believed to be on the way. The Intellectual Property Office of ITV Studios is understood to have made applications for a series of new Corrie-branded products.
