Transmission Creative has designed artwork to promote 'My Generation', an over-50s club night at Manchester music venue Band on the Wall.

The poster shows a tartan shopping trolley covered in badges and patches of bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Herman's Hermits.

Grant Mitchell, creative director at Transmission, said: "We came up with the idea of taking a stereotype of something associated with a preconception of getting old, the tartan shopping trolley, and turning it into a real positive by making it cool.

“So we 'pimped' the trolley with badges, patches and stickers of iconic bands and clubs that would resonate with our audience.”

The trolley, nicknamed 'Lucille', was photographed on the Band on the Wall dancefloor by Simon Bowcock. It will have its own Facebook page where veteran clubbers can share memories and will be toured around Manchester and its shops to promote the night.

“Lucille has had an amazing response from everybody who has seen her," Mitchell said.

"Everybody wants to have their photo taken with it. We really hope that it will provide a real talking point to help promote the club nights and give Manchester's older generation a great excuse to reacquaint themselves with their city.”

The My Generation club night is pitching itself at older people who feel excluded from the modern club scene and want to relive the old days at clubs like The Twisted Wheel.
