The world's most famous plastic boyfriend Ken has turned to social media in a bid to win back old flame Barbie, as part of a social media campaign from toy maker Mattel for Valentine’s Day.

The campaign runs seven years after the pair broke up, but now, on the 50th anniversary of his first appearance, it seems that Ken is keen to reunite Barbie, and is using Facebook and Twitter in an attempt to do so.

Social media users will decide whether the two will get back together on 14 February and have been asked to follow the messages he sends in the meantime with a website currently running, dedicated to the campaign.

The website features a Love-O-meter, which aims to convey the users feelings as Ken embarks on a series of trials to win back the heart of his true love.

Of course, the campaign is also promoting something, and that is the launch of the ‘Sweet talking Ken’ doll.
