The Neighbourhood in Manchester has created the website for Dinner, the much-hyped new restaurant opened by Heston Blumenthal.

The design studio was approached by Blumenthal's team during August 2010, when it was asked to create a holding page to whet the appetites of potential diners before going on to produce the full website.

Jon Humphreys, The Neighbourhood's creative director, said: "We really admire Heston so we leapt at the opportunity to create this website that launches Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and brings to life the brand and all it represents. The word 'dinner' holds the main visuals of the website, keeping the 'feel' clean and simple.

"The layout of the text, the font used, the portrait design of the page and the textured environment in which the pages sit were all considered to extend the Dinner by Heston Blumenthal experience. We wanted to keep images to a minimum, like in an old book, and let the words speak for themselves."

Before opening Dinner in London in January, Blumenthal is said to have trawled through historical recipe books for inspiration for his menu. The Neighbourhood said it tried to convey "this in-depth process as much as possible in the design of the website".

The holding page allowed wannabe diners to leave their email addresses so they could be contacted once the restaurant opened. Now the full site is live they can use it to reserve a table.
