An online advertising campaign to promote Jeremy Clarksons iPad app has found that the outspoken Top Gear presenter is most popular with football fans.

The campaign, by Silence Media, is currently running across a variety of news and male lifestyle sites, as well as football specific sites and has already found that twice as many users visiting football sites have deliberately engaged with the iClarkson advert, as they have from general lifestyle press.

Clarkson has never been popular with football fans, claiming that footballers were ‘a bunch of overpaid nancies’, although he has won back some fans having admitted publicly that he is a Chelsea fan through his column for The Times.

Clarkson, alongside his Top Gear presenting colleagues, is currently at the centre of a PR storm, after slagging off Mexican cars on the show.
