Twitter and Facebook both confirm Egyptian disruption

As Egypt continues to be disrupted by anti-government protests, set to enter their fourth day, both Twitter and Facebook have confirmed they have experience disruptions to their services.

The two sites, which the Egyptian Government has banned access to, admitted their their sites had seen figures drop in the country.

A spokesperson for Facebook commented: "We are aware of reports of disruption to service and have seen a drop in traffic from Egypt this morning. You may want to visit Herdict.org, a project of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University that offers insight into what users around the world are experiencing in terms of web accessibility."

Herdict.org reports that 459 sites in Egypy have been inaccessible.

Meanwhile, Twitter tweeted: "Egypt continues to block Twitter & has greatly diminished traffic. However, some users are using apps/proxies to successfully tweet."
