International special-interest media group, Future, has today announced that its consumer technology news and reviews site, TechRadar, has passed the 1.72 million UK unique users mark for the first time in December 2010.

The figures, announced by SiteStat and Google, show a 70% year-on-year increase, with global unique users for December reaching 4.78 million. This puts it ahead of competitor sites such as CNET UK, Pocket Lint and Trusted Reviews.

TechRadar was launched by Future at the end of 2007 and is a consumer news site that focuses on detailed reviews, quality features and the latest technology news.

This success has been propelled by strong demand for authoritative product reviews, with the site's mobile phone coverage proving especially attractive during the busy Christmas period.

Nick Merritt, Publisher for Future’s TechRadar said: “It’s been a fantastic year for TechRadar and topping it off with an enormous 1.72 million UK uniques is a great testament to the trust our readers have in the quality of our reviews,” said Nick Merritt, editor-in-chief at TechRadar.

“When money is tight, it’s even more important for people to make informed buying decisions so it’s great that so many have responded so well to our highly detailed and in-depth advice.”
