The BBC has appointed Liverpool-based app development agency Apposing to develop a mobile application for its new audio website: AudioGo.

Meanwhile, Lucid, another Merseyside-based firm has been appointed to handle the design aspect of the brief.

The website, previously branded as BBC Audiobooks, currently offers around 10,000 titles and has chalked up over one million online downloads.

The new app will allow users to search the AudioGo catalogue and listen to previews before they choose which title to purchase.
