Manchester-based RetroFuzz has launched a new site for Def Jam UK.

The brief given to the independent digital agency stated that the new site “needs to be easy to use and it needs to look stunning as DefJam is one of the strongest brands in global music and we need a site that conveys this”.

Further requirements were that the site had to be easily customisable so that changes could be made to emphasise whatever is being currently promoted, and that a “cool widget” would be included as the focus of the homepage.

The solution provided by RetroFuzz extended the widget out to fill the whole browser, rather than limiting its functionality to a particular area of the page, so essentially the artist browser acts “as a primary navigation tool that would convey the most important marketing messages from Def Jam at a glance to users, before offering them the option to dig deeper into the content on the website”.

The website was built entirely using HTML/CSS /jQuery, meaning it remains standards compliant and search engine friendly.
