As part of plans to reaffirm its brand, Technicolor has launched ColorZing - an application for iPhone and iPad created by Bristol agency AlwaysOnMessage.

The app was launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

AlwaysOnMessage was commissioned by MPC Digital, to produce an "interactive branding experience" for Technicolor. The resulting game, ColorZing, is now available for free from iTunes.

ColorZing is designed to immerse the consumer in a game driven by one of Technicolor’s specialities: colour.

As one of the best known brands in the world, Technicolor’s 95-year-old heritage has experienced something of an overhaul during the last 12 months. This has seen the company branching out into new areas, extending its brand to consumer products and digital services.

The challenge for the app was to communicate the significance of a brand which so many people engage without ever realising.

Last year, Technicolor’s new logo became the recipient of the best new logo award by the Business Marketing Association (BMA) of New York City and ColorZing is focused on Technicolor’s new logo, and its use of the colour spectrum.

Peter Swain, MD of AlwaysOnMessage, commented:

“In an age where consumers are becoming increasingly mobile, it is important to brands to adopt this form of medium and cement their brands in the minds of consumers in a more imaginative manner. This is even more crucial when a company is re-inventing itself amongst the consumer crowd. Creating a mobile gaming experience that is both fun and brand-driven is an effective method to adopt and one that has seen many worldwide brands receive increased interest in their brand from a market on the move.”

The application, which intertwines the Technicolor brand with mobile technology, will act as a pilot for Technicolor’s future mobile work in the years ahead.

Technicolor serves motion picture, television, and other media clients as a provider of visual effects, animation, and post-production services.
