The Royal Television Society Devon and Cornwall has announced the nominees for its 2010 awards.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Barbican Theatre Complex in Plymouth at 7.30 this evening.

Sponsors for the event include BBC South West, ITV West, University College Falmouth, conference and event managers Pyramid Presentations and digital and broadcast services provider Silverstream.

The nominations include a Lifetime Contribution Award to RTS Devon and Cornwall co-vice chair Bob McCann, as well as an Outstanding Achievement Award, the recipient of which will be announced on the night.

The RTS Awards are the gold standard of achievement in the television community. Each year seven Awards ceremonies across the RTS regions recognise excellence in programme making and broadcasting skills.

The last awards ceremony, held in 2008, saw the BBC scoop five out of ten of the programme and craft awards that were up for grabs.
