Following a series of experimental tweaks to its homepage last month, online video sharing service YouTube has rolled out its new design to all users.

The rejigged page has been tailored to each user’s personal preferences, including an enhanced recommendation feature displaying videos which are linked to previously viewed material.

An ability to merge subscriptions, friend activity and recommendations into one easier to scan list and recently saved videos have also been added to the landing page.

YouTube product manager Brian Glick said: “What we’re trying to turn the homepage into a destination to go to when you don’t know what you want to watch. Now your personalised list of content is waiting for you.”

At present the average user spends 15 min a day on YouTube, a figure Glick is determined to raise closer to the 5hrs a day most people spend in front of the telly.
