Twitter turns Oxford Circus fashion shoot into shooting scare
A tweet about a photographic shoot in Oxford Circus sparked a panic as many people assumed there was a ‘shooting’ on Oxford Street.
A barrage of tweets ensued to such an extent the subject became a trending topic with request from the BBC breaking news team for more information.
@candicebailey from Asos started the scare with her tweet “Street style shooting in Oxford Circus for ASOS and Diet Coke. Let me know if you’re around!!”
A host of tweet followed cumulating in one that said “Shooting on Oxford Circus. Stay safe people.”
Eventually Bailey was moved to tweet an apology for the confusion “It’s all about fashion photography!”
