Laurence Winram, the Edinburgh based commercial photographer who is known by many in the advertising and design industry, has made it to the final of a Showdown competition through the Saatchi Gallery.

Saatchi's Online, created by advertising guru Charles Saatchi, is a website for artists from all over the world to display their artwork and communicate with each other. The online gallery hosts a 'Showdown' competition, amongst the thousands of member artists. If an artist makes it it through the selection process their work enters a voting system where it goes head to head against other artists. Winram's picture 'The Watchers' is now through to the final of this process, meaning it will be displayed in the Saatchi Gallery. Voting is still underway, with Winram slightly ahead as this was written. However, the voting does not finish until tomorrow (Thursday). http://www.saatchionline.com/showdown Winram's picture 'The Watchers' was created with a great deal of patience both on location and on the computer afterwards. A number of compliant friends and family made up the models in the shot as they do in much of his personal work. The shoot had to change location at the last minute after an angry gamekeeper decided to throw them off the land. But that, low light and a persistent drizzle did not stop the production.
