Trinity Mirror, publishers of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, have announced that it is to close the print edition of its free weekly business newspaper, Business 7.

The title, headed by editor in chief Alasdair Northrop, was launched three years ago. However, the company say the brand will live on. The titles website is to be improved in a development that will include broadening its coverage to take in national and international content as well as Scottish news.

In addition business content is to be added to the Daily Record itself meaning that the Business7 team of Northrop and two journalists will remain intact.

In a statement Northrop, is reported as saying: “In a multimedia age people want to consume their business news and information in different ways. We are meeting those needs.

“Business7 has built a great reputation and audience amongst Scotland’s business community and these changes - via the Daily Record and the upgraded website - will continue to enhance the service we provide to our readers and the reach for our advertisers.”
