A controversial $30m TV mini-series, dramatising the life of the Kennedy political dynasty, has been cancelled in the US following pressure from the family – but will still be broadcast in the UK.

Commissioned by The History Channel the programme was deemed “not a fit for the History brand” by execs after viewing the final product in its “totality.”

Starring Greg Kinnear as JFK and Katie Holmes as Jackie the show is said to depict JFK as sex crazed and his father as power mad.

American gossip magazines suggest that this is the real reason for keeping the show off air after it upset well connected members of the surviving clan.

The Kennedys will be shown in Britain on The History Channel and the BBC.
