Delicious, a technology bookmarking service which allows users to save, manage and share weblinks, is amongst eight services to be shut down by struggling internet giant Yahoo!

The rumour has been lent credence by the leaking of an internal Yahoo! Team meeting slide by former employee Andy Baio, who tweeted the slide

Though popular with the technology community Yahoo! Claim the service was either “underperforming” or “off strategy”, but refused to confirm or deny its closure.

That hasn’t prevented numerous “save delicious” campaign groups being formed on social networking sites however as the services 5.3m users band together to save the site.

Other services set for the axe include AltaVista, Yahoo! Buzz, Yahoo! Bookmarks and some traffic APIs.

Yahoo! Was recently forced to sack 560 employees amidst continued poor trading.
