Journalist redundancies being made at Newsquest Herald & Evening Times
Around 13 editorial staff are to be made redundant from Newsquest Herald & Evening Times, with six understood to be leaving voluntarily.
Seven members of the editorial team at the Glasgow-based newspaper publisher are being informed of their fate in one-to-one meetings with Jonathan Russell, group-editor-in-chief, today as it aims to reduce costs.
The overall consultation process involved around 20 members of production, editorial and marketing staff with the process set for completion by the end of the year.
Earlier this week the National Union of Journalists launched an early day motion against Newsquest, with its members facing redundancies and undertaking strike action across other Newsquest offices across the UK.
Rumours are also circulating that the Sunday Herald is set to change the format of the publication to become a magazine.
