Apple reveals top apps of 2010
Apple has revealed that Angry Birds, a cartoon physics based game which instructs users to slingshot a flock of enraged avians at the increasingly elaborate defences of a clutch of cowering pigs, was the most downloaded paid for app on the iTunes store this year.
In addition the “Lite” version of the app was also flying high after it ascended to take the title of second most popular free app title (behind Facebook) and it was the second highest grossing iPhone app.
Skype, which offers free calls to other Skype users on wi-fi, also put in a strong showing, climbing to fourth spot in the top 10 free apps list.
Other popular apps proved to be The Moron Test, a quiz which aims to elicit whether the player is “a complete idiot” and Talking Tom Cat, a virtual feline which responds to touch and repeats everything you say in a funny voice.
