A host of musicians, sports players, reality TV stars and even the wife of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown are taking part in a morbid campaign aimed at raising awareness of World Aids Day.

Stars including Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian and Jay Sean are each figuratively popping their clogs in a hard hitting campaign by posing, dead, in a wreath bedecked coffin.

More than just a photo op the group, led by pop singer Alicia Keys, is committed to logging out of social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook for the duration of their temporary expiration.

The campaign begins on World Aids Day this Wednesday and will continue until the celebrities fans have stumped up $1m for children with HIV and Aids.
