BBC commissions Waterloo Road spin off

Shed media has been commissioned by the BBC to produce an online spin off of the Waterloo Road television series.

Waterloo Road Reunited will bring back some of the most popular characters from the series, including Janeece, with a combination of scripted episodes, fictional social media networks, audio and interactive fan sites.

Waterloo Road is one of the most watched programmes on BBC iPlayer, clocking up around 5m viewers per episode and boasts the highest 16-34 share of any drama on BBC1 or ITV1.

Margaret Scott, Head of Business Development for Shed Media Scotland said:

“We are delighted the BBC appreciates the increasing appetite for extended content by young people and the growth of social networking and streamed content to mobile devices and online platforms.”
