Scots Gov smoking brief goes to Union Direct
Union Direct has been appointed to create a direct marketing programme to support the introduction of new laws in Scotland relating to the sale of tobacco products.
The direct response division of the Union Group won the brief after a competitive tender issued to the Scottish Government's five direct marketing agencies on its marketing services framework.
Its work will initially focus on informing retailers about the Tobacco and Primary Medical Services (Scotland) Act 2010, which includes new legislation intended to reduce the attractiveness and availability of tobacco to youngsters.
Gillian Govan, chief marketing officer for the Scottish Government, said: “Union Direct demonstrated a highly effective understanding of our need to get this important public information message to the right audience with intelligent data planning."
