The launch of social media marketing network Go-Social will take place in Manchester this week.

The sold out event, which is being organised alongside The Drum and the Marketing Industry Network, will launch the online network for marketing professionals with an interest in social media ahead of a social media bootcamp taking place within the city in November.

Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp, organiser of Go-Social (pictured) will oversee the launch event, taking place on Thursday 21 October at the Hive in Manchester, which has a waiting queue for tickets having already sold out.

The bootcamp will take place on 25 November; a two-part conference, with a gap of twelve weeks in between.

The first day will showcase best practice examples of social media marketing within UK-based companies and will be followed by a call to action for the attendees. The second day, The Accelerator, will be a day of detailed case studies crowd sourced mainly from the audience from the Go-Social launch.

Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp, commented: “We wanted to create something different; a conference and networking community for professionals who need to find out how to use social media for business in a way that cuts through all of the false mystique and guru talk that hides the real practical applications of social media in marketing”.

The agenda for the conference will include case studies from local small to medium-sized businesses profiting from social media marketing, social media professionals from big brands and leading authorities in social media, marketing and PR, who will share insights and experiences.

Partnering with Go-Social will be The Drum, The Marketing Industry Network, Venue Sponsors The Hive and Online Community specialist consultancy Intelligise.

MacIntyre-Kemp continued: “Most social media conferences are a bit samey - loads of speakers from big retail brands with multimillion pound budgets talking about how they managed to get one million friends on Facebook, that has no relevance to your average marketing professional with extortionate rip £500 a day prices. Go-Social is the antidote for this. We started with online community and have created a buzz around the event exclusively with social media and every presentation at the conference will be full of practical real life experiences that can be directly applied within the

businesses attending. Add to this the ongoing online community to support the attendees as they implement their social media strategies and improvements and amongst other benefits a free subscription to The Drum magazine, at £199.00 a day The Go-Social Bootcamp represents extraordinary value for money for Manchester businesses.”

The Go-Social launch event takes place on Thursday 21October at the Hive Building on Leven street Manchester, beginning at 5.15pm.
