A new identity for The Core, a £50 million regeneration project in Corby, has been designed by Uniform.

Uniform was appointed to design the identity for the project, which will open next month, following a six-way-pitch and was briefed to develop an identity which would position the venue at the heart of Corby’s community and reflect its dual purpose of providing first class professional productions and a creative programme of participatory activity and community opportunities.

Uniform’s answer to the brief was to centre on ensuring that staff, stakeholders and the local community was involved, running workshops and gathering information through the distribution of camera, holding online chats and blogs, which would be translated as part of the creation of the brand.

The arts centre was then named The Core in an effort to reflect its offer, with illustrator Will Scobie working alongside the agency to design the brand marque, which represents pathways and journeys starting from the core and reaching out.

Tim Sharp, design director for Uniform , explained; “ Our branding process has allowed Uniform to truly create a brand and name which will engage with the community and put the people at the heart of the brand – it is an exciting time for The Core and we look forward to seeing it grow from strength to strength over the next coming months.”
