Home, garden and leisure retailer The Range has appointed the Leeds office of PR agency Cow to look after its consumer and corporate profile.

Cow says it has been handed a "six-figure budget for the first six months" and will be responsible for creative consumer campaigns, trade and corporate profiling and manning a press office.

As well as promoting the company itself Cow will manage the profile of The Range's multi-millionaire founder Chris Dawson.

The agency has been appointed as The Range closes in on its 50th store opening.

Trevor Rebello, marketing manager at The Range, said: “Cow approached us directly with insights into how our brand could develop its reputation both with consumers and business.

"Their creative programme and considered strategic approach to both the brand and our founder’s reputation management led to us developing a programme to increase our profile in a range of media.”

The account will be overseen by Cow North director, Eileen McGuinnesss, who moved to Leeds last year to open the PR agency's northern base.
