Tecmark delivers drink and drive calculator app for Ralli Solicitors

Tecmark delivers drink and drive calculator app for Ralli SolicitorsTecmark delivers drink and drive calculator app for Ralli Solicitors

An app has been developed for Ralli Solicitors which allowed people to find out whether they are over the legal drink and drive limit.

The calculation works by the user entering their height and weight along with what they have had to drink to allow the app to measure their blood alcohol levels.

Developed by Manchester firm, Tecmark, the ‘Keep Your License’ app will also advise on the number of points a person caught speeding will get on their license, depending on the speed they were caught doing.

Users will also benefit from daily alerts with safe driving tips and updates on motoring laws and regulations.

Great idea, design is a bit Billy basic but has the potential to be very successful.

Absolutely ridiculous idea. Alcohol blood levels depend on a wide variety of factors, many of which will be unknown to the user - metabolic rate, liver capacity, etc and are very difficult to predict without the use of a breath / blood / urine sample. I can't believe a firm of solicitors would get involved with a scheme like this - I would like to see the legal caveats with this app!

To 9.26 and 9.55 have you actually downloaded the app and seen the disclaimer at the start? Or have you just seen the article and decided to pass comment...thought so.

Thank you third 'anon'.

The app is there to help reinforce the dangers of drink driving. This issue needs to be constantly at the forefront of the public’s mind. Download the Ralli iPhone app before you even contemplate driving after a drink is a responsible message.

As the disclaimer states the App should only be used strictly in accordance with any guidance provided. The results generated are illustrative only and you should not rely upon them in any decision to drive having taken alcohol. If you have had a drink the safest option is not to drive.

Sorry, but I agree with the anons. IF you're already conscious that drink driving isn't good, then you might download this app. But you wouldn't drink drive anyway, so you'd be wasting your time. You might want to use it to find out if you're over the limit, but hold on, it doesn't actually claim to do that. So what's the point of it? To make people think about it before they drive having had a drink? How is an app on their phone going to do that? They have to actually access the app. Which means they've already thought about the perils of drink driving or they wouldn't access the app. Thereby making it redundant.

Thank you for your comment Mark.

The key message of the app is DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE – check your status with this app and keep your licence, as well as DON’T SPEED – check and monitor your speed and keep your licence.

Users may have already thought about the perils of drink driving and the app reinforces the message not to drink and drive.
