The 2009/2010 annual review for the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) has been designed by Crombie.

The Edinburgh design agency picked up the project in June following a three-way-pitch to head of communications Sheryl May and its in-house design team.

A new colour coding developed by the in-house team to differentiate the three themes of FCS; climate change and environment, community engagement and contribution to the economy.

The format for this year’s review is smaller than the usual A4 size as it aims to ensure minimum paper wastage from FSC accredited stock Edixion Offset and makes use of the FCS image library, using a mixture of bleed images in an effort to add pace and square ups for visual interest.

The brief also requested that both English and Gaelic translations be used, with a fully Gaelic edition planned for design and production later this year.
