The Chase has created the brand for the 2012 Preston Guild, a historic celebration that takes place in the Lancashire city once every 20 years.

The traditional event is steeped in more than 800 years of history and dates back to Henry II granting Preston 'Guild Merchant' status in 1179. The Preston Guild has been held every 20 years to celebrate the occasion since 1542.

Branding by The Chase, which has an office in Preston, will be used to promote The Guild's "comprehensive programme of creative, innovative and inspiring events" alongside its age-old civic ceremonies.

Preston Guild festival director Stella Hall said: “The Guild is a very special event for Preston and 2012 will be the biggest and best yet.

“To mark the difference from other years we’ve developed a new identity which will give the year a distinctive look to appeal to residents and visitors from the UK and beyond. The UK is the place to be in 2012, and following the Olympics it will be ‘all back to ours’ to celebrate the Guild.”
