Moyles pays back BBC with on air rant
Radio 1 heavyweight Chris Moyles has launched a bitter tirade against BBC administrators after a mix up in the corporations payroll department left the presenter unpaid since July.
Moyles, who described himself as “very, very angry, very, very angry” launched a half hour verbal tirade against the “moronic div” who had made the administrative error which prevented payments from a new employment contract (thought to be around £500k) from being made.
Frustrated by a lack of progress in rectifying the situation Moyles took to the airwaves at 06:30 for a half hour rant in which he said: “Can you imagine if Terry Wogan had not been paid for two months, do you think that would ever happen? It just wouldn’t, would it? Do you ever think anyone would forget to pay Chris Evans for two months and nobody would panic about it?
The diatribe proved sufficient to stir the Beeb’s bureaucratic machinery however with a months salary, £40k, being deposited in his account that day.
