‘Cat in bin woman’ Mary Bale, an RBS worker from Coventry, has been overtaken in the pet cruelty stakes a mere week after rising to national infamy by an unidentified teenage girl.
A short video depicts the teenager and her accomplice filming themselves as they dip into a white plastic bucket filled with six live puppies, unceremoniously chucking the creatures one by one into a raging torrent of water below.
Already death threats have been made against the girl by animal rights activists whilst 4chan, a network of cyber pranksters are said to be tracking down the Youtube and Facebook accounts of her friends and family.

It's the pleasure she appears to take that's most disturbing...and why would you film it? It's hard to understand.
she will soon be unmasked I am sure ... i just think she needs to hand herself in for her own safety (despite the despicable act she has carried out she is obviously disturbed and needs help)
It's probably a daily occurance over there. No one would care about it, not like the UK's reaction to the cat bin woman.

That clip is without doubt utterly despicable. Really sickening. But unless this is a rather macabre viral marketing stunt I fail to see what it has to do with the regional advertising/marketing industry, which is what I read the Drum for. If I wanted to see cruelty like this - and I really really don't - then I'm sure there are other places on the internet to find it.
Please Drum, leave the tabloid sensationalism to someone else and stick to being a voice for our profession. The regions get enough grief as it is... articles such as this do not help at all.

Trying to separate my professional thoughts from my obvious emotional ones. Although we would be naive to think that its not the first time this sort of thing has happened, we have to assume that because the actual action was filmed and therefore premeditated that the end result was intended to be posted online.
Can we expect more of the same as the online social network juggernaut rolls on giving an audience to the obvious lower forms that are out there? And because the means now exist to showcase your despicable acts to the world, does the means actually encourage this sort of action? I do hope I'm wrong. But even more disturbing are the consequences relating to this when activist groups and individuals jump onboard to dish out their own form of justice using the very same social network means. The tip of the iceberg I think.

As a dog owner myself (a Dogs Trust rescue dog) this really makes me feel even more sick.
