One of the main goals of the report is to increase employment within Scottish broadcasting and independent production from 2,910 to 4,676 by 2013.

It will also look to increase the sector’s annual turnover from £215 million to £346 million in that same period-of-time.

It has also been recommended that Creative Scotland take ‘the leadership role’ in bringing together broadcasters, production companies and economic development bodies, skills agencies and education facilitators, to work collaboratively in developing the industry.

Andrew Dixon, CEO of Creative Scotland CEO said that he report demonstrated the commitment made by all sides to align ambitions and actions for the production industry in Scotland.

“It also marks a step change in how Creative Scotland will work with the broadcast and production sector in the future. The challenge to all of us is to step up to the mark and see the goals in the report achieved,” he added.

Linda McPherson, director of Creative Industries at Scottish Enterprise said:“By growing our ambitious television broadcast companies, we can grow the sector and ultimately Scotland’s economy. The report details the specific recommendations and actions that could drive this growth, and we will continue to work alongside Creative Scotland to provide Scottish Enterprise assistance where it can have the most impact with these companies.”
