Former London Weekend Television managing director, Liam Hamilton has been appointed as deputy director of content for STV Productions.

Hamilton will join the Scottish broadcaster later this year from DCD Media, where he was business development director, and has also worked at ITV as programme controller and managing director of London Weekend Television.

Hamilton will be tasked with supporting the development and expansion of STV Productions, working with its development team and building relationships across the UK.

Alan Clements, director of content for STV, said: “I am delighted to welcome Liam to the STV Productions team and very much look forward to working with him to continue to develop our business. I’m confident that Liam can help build on our recent successes in securing commissions and working in partnership with a wide range of broadcasters, both in the UK and overseas.”

Hamilton added: “I am excited to be joining STV Productions and working with Alan and the team to develop new programmes for the UK and international markets. I started my television career at STV in the early eighties so I am thrilled to be 'coming back home' to the company at such an exciting time in its history."
