National Australia Bank has confirmed that it is currently in the process of recruiting a new head of media relations for its UK business banking since the departure of Linda Bain.

Bain joined the company in the senior communications role last March from Hilton Hotels where she was senior vice president of global communications, but is understood to have left earlier this summer to launch her own communications consultancy.

During her time at the financial brand she worked with the company's Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank brands where she was responsible for the UK corporate and business banking division.

"I have decided that after 21 years of corporate experience working with some of the biggest and best brands and companies in Scotland, London and the USA, is is time to apply this insight into running my own strategic communications consultancy," Bain told The Drum.

"I am working with clients both in Scotland and London, including listed companies, large corporates and entrepreneurs, providing communications support and advice across media, shareholders, employees and customers," she added.

Prior to joining Hilton, Bain was head of corporate communications for Scottish and Newcastle, leaving in 2005 after nearly a decade. She was also head of communications for Carlsberg.

Barry Gardner, media relations director for National Australia Bank confirmed that it was in the process of recruiting a successor to oversee its business banking PR.

It is understood that a number of the UK communications team at National Australia Bank have moved on in recent months.
