Scottish broadcaster STV will make more than 2,000 hours of full-length programming freely available on YouTube from today.

Some new programmes, including Australian drama Underbelly and daily entertainment show The Hour, will be available to watch on STV's YouTube channel shortly after broadcast.

And programmes from the archives, including long-running soap High Road, music show Thingummyjig and STV's opening 1957 broadcast, This is Scotland, will also be available.

Alistair Brown, head of digital for STV, said: “I’m delighted that our channel is now fully up and running on YouTube, making a vast amount of digitised, rich STV content available to a wide audience across the UK and beyond.

"We have a vast amount of programming, including the best of the new material and gems from the extensive STV archive, and hope to reach new STV viewers via this channel. We’re also commissioning new material specifically for distribution via the STV Player service on YouTube and our other online platforms."

STV is the third British broadcaster, after Channel 4 and Five, to make its catch-up service available via YouTube. The TV Shows section of YouTube will bring together more than 5,000 hours of full-length programming from its professional content partners.
