Online film companies usher in new age of citizen journalism

Riding the coat tails of Youtube’s stratospheric ascent to dominance of the online video market VBS.TV are leading a new breed of alternative film companies who aim to shake up the delivery of current affairs programming.

Spurred by the worldwide spread of video recording equipment and broadband VBS are now introducing high definition videos which rival mainstream media for content and audiences.

These aim to blur the traditional bracketing of genres by splicing an irreverent mix of music and counter culture influences with straight laced news reporting such as in upcoming spoof “Afghanistan in the UK”.

It was created by a Andy Capper, editor of Vice UK, and gives an insiders look at the army’s multimillion pound, ‘fake Afghan village’.
