Edinburgh Printmakers’ studio collaborates with Tayburn
Edinburgh Printmakers’ studio recently collaborated with Tayburn and photographer David Boni to produce promotional literature to highlight its services.
The limited edition packaged set of loose-leaf prints contains hand-printed section pages covering the five main areas of print produced in the studio – relief, intaglio, lithography, screen printing and digital – as well as hand printed versions of the Edinburgh Printmakers’ logo.
The concept for the project is informed by the ‘language of printmaking’, showcasing the processes, materials and practices that Edinburgh Printmakers go through on a day-to-day basis, and the screen printed wrap gives an overview of the five main areas of print while doubling as a poster.
Tayburn said of the project: “We realised from an early stage that photography would play a massive role throughout the document. To realise this we collaborated with photographer David Boni who helped capture the unique character of the space. The use of imagery is not wholly specific to any one section and is used in a way that aims to show a mix across all aspects of Edinburgh Printmakers. Everything from the gallery space to the artists that use the studio is covered, with captions appearing under specific images of interest, which lead you through the document and help tell one continuous story. This mix encapsulates the full experience you get when visiting the Printmakers.”
