Stockport production company Acrobat TV has just finished shooting a documentary for the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism.

The film centres on the historic Karak Castle - which over the years has been invaded by the Crusaders, Saladin and Ghengis Khan - and will be used in a new tourist attraction.

It will be shown to visitors from around the world in a new amphitheatre which overlooks the castle and it will also be projected onto the castle's outer walls.

Visitors will be able to listen in at least four different languages and an extended version of the film will be available on DVD and BluRay for tourists to buy.

The documentary, hosted by BBC presenter Howard Stableford, is now in edit.

Acrobat's managing director, David Hill, said shooting in the Middle East had been "a truly remarkable experience".

He said: "The Jordanian people went out of their way to help facilitate our filming and it has resulted in some spectacular footage. The programme will be stunning, a real showcase for the High Definition cameras that it's been filmed on."

Katie Mather, Acrobat's head of development, added: "This documentary is the first of its kind in the Middle East and is a key element in the drive to promote tourism."
