Milton Glaser, the graphic design legend who created the I Love New York logo, has designed a poster for Manchester agency Truth.

Each year design consultancy Truth asks one of its industry heroes to create a poster to mark its birthday.

To celebrate its fourth anniversary, Truth creative director Darren Scott put in a "cheeky request" to Glaser, who promptly agreed to design the poster in return for a donation to charity.

The 81-year-old has had a major impact on graphic design throughout his celebrated career.

Along with the iconic NY design his renowned works include a famous Bob Dylan poster, the DC Comics 'Bullet' logo and the Brooklyn Brewery identity.

In February this year he became the first designer to receive America’s National Medal of Arts.

Scott, a "long-time admirer" of Glaser's work, said: “As with our previous limited edition posters, we wanted this year’s visual contribution to be special, so you can imagine how flattered and excited we are that such a global design legend as Milton Glaser has agreed to work with us.

"To have reached this milestone is in itself worth celebrating so collaborate with someone who is so outstanding in our own field is the icing on the cake.”

Several anniversary posters are being created along with a small number of limited edition screen prints.
