Liverpool agency Glow New Media has created an online game for the Merseyside Maritime Museum set during the glory days of the Albert Dock.

Cargo-a-go-go challenges players to load a ship berthed at the historic Liverpool dock with cargo destined for the new world. But if they overload it they sink the boat.

The game was commissioned by National Museums Liverpool and is lined with historical references to the dock's heyday and educational elements about buoyancy and the Plimsoll Line.

Thom Shannon, technical director of Glow, said: “We wanted to make a fun game which was very easy for all ages to use.

"As part of the research, I went over to Albert Dock and that’s when I caught sight of the original wheeled crane. That was the solution right there and it’s become an integral part of the game.”

The game can be played on the Liverpool Museums website.
